Peter - I'm not sure how successful you will be in applying for a credit card but
have you considered a debit card? Basically they can work the same way
(associated with Visa/MasterCard) but you can only spend money you have in your
account (no credit facility) - in all other respects AFAIK they can be used just
like a credit card.

Commonwealth Bank will issue credit cards to people holding visitor and other non
permanent visas. Check out www.commbank.com.au for application forms etc..

Incidentally, with credit in general, I have found being persistent helps. Some
companies will only give credit to permanent residents, others will be quite happy
provided you pay a reasonable deposit.

You can always get a debit card which you can use just as a "normal" credit card,
(purchases on the 'Net, deposits/payments for hotels and rental cars, etc) although
the funds come out of your acct immediately. Because the bank isn't advancing you any
credit, they have no problem giving the card. It looks and functions just like a
regular VISA or MasterCard.

I am a student on a student visa and was told by my bank that I could only get a
Bankcard which is a kind of Australian credit card. It only works in AU and NZ but it
is widely accepted in Australia. It will expire the date your visa expires. My bank
is commonwealth.

Yup, "St George Bank" is one of the few that issues "Visa Debit Cards". So does "Bank
of Melbourne", tho' I think they may not since being taken over by "Westpac". Web
addresses: www.stgeorge.com.au Tell 'em I sent you! (Nah, just kidding!)

Hey, zoop, why don't you quit your annoying ass "DONT COME TO AUSTRALIA" antics. I
really don't think this newsgroup wants you to lurk here posting your retarded
messages all about. In fact, I'd guarantee your ISP wouldn't like you posting this
stuff on their news server. Oh, have a nice day.

Hi Postal,

    >

I'm not sure if the FreeAgent supports filters, but try "Add kill filter" if present.
Otherwise register the Agent (it's worth the money).

Cheers,
Udo
