Default A couple of questions, good character

I would like to know if anyone has past experience with acquiring a visa while having a criminal record? 5 years ago I got charged for DUI (driving under influence). I want to know if I still have chances of getting a visa (136) or should I just forget about it?

It's bothering me quite a bit, I started gathering all the information I needed to migrate to australia, even started to look for a potential employer but I need to know if I still have a chance with my criminal record.

Thanks,
Will

Usually only custodial sentences of 12 months plus affect your chance of getting a visa.

Providing you are honest about it on your application you should be fine. Also a letter indicating your regret etc at the offence wouldn't go amiss.

They look at the past 10 years but as long as it's the only blip on your record it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just make sure you tell them about it.
