Default Contyributory Visa

My parents application for a 137 contributory visa is being pickup up by courier tomorrow. I was going to arrange their meds at the same time as ours (End of April) but don't know if this is a good idea.

Does anyone know if over 70's require the same medical as us or an extended medical? They both keep reasonably well but Mum did have TB in her 20's?

The subclass 137 visa is State Territory Nominated Independent, not contributory parent.

Is there a particular reason why they are applying for the temporary contributory parent visa rather than the permanent one?

Presumably you're not needed to make the 'balance of family' test work, as you will only be counted when your own PR visas have been granted and you've moved to Australia.

Dad doesn't want to pay all that money out at once just incase they come home again, thats why there going for the temp visa initially then apply for a PR at a later date.

Re the 'balance of family' test, they meet that 2 to 1 (only me here and two sisters lived in Oz for ages)

Do you know anything about a medical for the over 70's? Or is it just the same regardless of age?

Cheers
Jane
