Contributory parent (temporary)
Hi,
My dad is applying for a contributory parent visa (temporary) and was
wondering whether to pay the initial 15000 AUS$ of the fee with the
application (that is in addition to the application fee), or whether to
just pay the application fee and they will ask for the 15000 later???
It is difficult as the application form asks for you to fill in the
amount to be paid.
Many thanks in advance for any help

Hi Gill,
Many thanks for your reply, the information is much appreciated -
especially the part about the VAC only being due in ~11 months. You're
right I can probably get around AUS$700 in the mean time in interest
here in the UK. To be honest I had not considered how to transfer the
money to Australia ... although I agree that a bank transfer is likely
to be the most expensive. Is it possible to use a credit card? Just
thinking it may be worth it for that amount to get a card that gives
cashback and then use that for the payment. Even 1% cashback would give
about AUS$150 and credit cards usually offer favourable exchange rates.
Otherwise no other thoughts....
Many thanks again
Greg
