Default Confused re: post-reg experience

Hi

I am due to qualify as a midwife (direct entry) in Sept 2009 and was wishing to apply for permanent residency instead of the 457 visa. My question is regarding the 12 months post reg experience. Can I apply for PR whilst gaining the 12 months experience (say after 3 months) or do I need to work the 12 months then apply? Any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Hi
am sorry I cant help you with your question, there is a nurses part of the forum (before you jump on me lol, I know you're not a nurse but midwives sometimes post in that section also as they don't have their own.)

So maybe if you re-post your question in there, someone will hopefully be along who can answer your question.

Hi, you need 12 months experience post reg, before you apply. When you apply you have to have 12 months midwifery experience, you can not apply whilst gaing your 12 months experience, you visa application will be cancelled. On the application form you have to send proof of 12 months working experience, ie references from employer plus wage slips ect.... i qualified as a registred nurse 16 months ago and applied as soon as I had got my 12 months experience. I have just got my CO and the first thing she asked me for my references, I did not upload these, Hope this helps. Julie
