Default CO Assigned. Medical procedure details.

Dear All,

I applied for General Skilled VISA application on 10th January 2010. Today i have received an email from DIAC and they are asking for medical and police clearance certificate.

Could anyone of you please tell me the medical procedure details. My concern here is that i am smoking since long. Though i was never a chain smoker, i do smoke 5 to 6 cigerates a day.
Will it have any adverse effect on my medical ?

Secondly, since they are asking me to provide medical and police clearance, can i assume that everything else is validated and if my medical and police checks are fine, i'll be granted a VISA ?

Thanks,

It depends on your medical test, what comes; only the test may show.
If CO has aksed for Medicals and PCC then generally it is considered that most of your checks have been made and your application is OK, but it may vary from CO to CO.

The medical form does not ask if you smoke nor did the doctor who examined us. I would assume that a lot of Australians smoke and potential immigrants therefore, I would not perceive smoking as having an adverse effect on a visa being granted. You will be asked to have a chest xray and if there are any abnormalities detected then im sure you would be advised about it, but for now, dont worry
Im not too sure about the second part of your question as it all depends on what country you are from and if DIAC are currently undertaking external checks. Just send what they want and im sure you will hear back from DIAC very soon Good luck with everything

I dont think smoking 5 to 6 cigarettes a day isn't gonna matter much. Just don't worry

Being asked for your meds and PCCs does not mean that you're definitely going to get approved. The chances are you will but it's not definite and it doesn't necessarily mean that they have finished all their other checks.
