Question Citizenship and Travel on PR Visa

Hi

I am on a PR Visa, I have been travelling outside of Australia for work.

When I apply for my Citizenship will these days be excluded from my 2 year period. I will be able to obtain a letter from my employer to show these are business trips.

Many thanks in advance

Tony

I think they do but not 100% sure, somebody like JAJ will know for sure. I will be interested to read the answer as I'm planning a trip back to the UK and feel sure this will affect when I can apply for my citizenship too. C x

Short answer : yes they will be excluded.

Longer answer : maybe ok if they are business trips but then your citizenship application could well take much longer to process because of the need to ask for discretion.

How many days are you talking about?

Will you be under the old or new rules?

Under the new rules absences of up to 3 month within the year before applying will be counted. However I don't think they are under the old rules.
