Default Citizenship - apply to children?

As a family we have PRV's. However, we might not all be in country long enough to attain citizenship. If I was to remain behind and become an Australian citizen, will my children automatically also be able to gain citizenship as long as they apply before their 18th birthday?

I thought children needed to be under 16 to go on a parents citizenship application. I could be wrong though, best see what others have to say in that one.

If you are able to become a citizen before your child turns 16, they can go on your application and as long as they are still under 16 when your application is approved, they do not need the normal residence requirement.

If they will be over 16 by the time you qualify and apply, they cannot go on your application and must apply in their own right and meet the residence requirements

So it depends on how old they are and how long they have and will be in Oz.

However I am pretty sure that the children will need to be in Oz at the time you make the application for citizenship.

The kids need to be proven staying with the applicant parent if wanted to be included in the application.
