Citizenship
Can anyone tell me how many days out of the 2 years you need to stay in oz before applying for this?
Daughter is validating visa then coming back to finish college for the next year.

Re: Citizenship
You've got it wrong.
What you need is a total of 730 days physically in Australia in the 5
years before you apply for citizenship. Including 365 days in the 2
years before application.
So if you spend time outside Australia you normally just make up the
missing days when you get back. If you leave for too long of course,
the clock is reset (and you also risk losing your PR, of course - a
different story).
Have a look at the residence calculator at

Re: Citizenship
The 365 day rule in the last 2 years generally forces people to be
settled in Australia when they apply. There are some other
requirements that make it very difficult to apply from offshore.
If you live in Australia for less than 2 years in the first 5, you are
not only going to be ineligible for citizenship, but your PR will be
ar risk too as you will have problems getting a resident return visa.

Thanks for that.
I hope I don't sound silly but does this mean once she has validated her visa she can come and go for the next couple of years but as long as she spends 2 years before the 5 years are up she qualifies for citizenship?
