Citizens but no Oz passports only UK ones
Hey all,
A quickie - just to confirm when travelling outside of Oz when a Citizen UK passports cannot be used?
We are Citizens but have no Aussie passports - (well the missus and kids don't)
States on here "Must" use Oz passports..

As an Australian citizen you should use your Australian passport when departing from and arriving in Australia. You may be able to leave on a British passport with a ticking-off but you won't be able to board a flight back to Australia without one. Once you're outside Australia you can use whichever passport is most convenient.

As above. Once you become a citizen you no longer have a visa so you need an Australian passport to enter Australia.
You can can enter the uk on your Australian passport but you will get a visa stamp on entry with a maximum permitted stay.
If if you are planning to travel (or even if you are not as who knows.....) best to get Australian passports sorted.

Thanks for the quick replies - We are travelling at the end of the month and obviously cannot apply on line as too short notice.
Assume it's possible to get into Perth and sit out in passport centre to sort out for the wife and kids with only 3 weeks to go?? we only just booked up flights and overlooked this with the excitement.. jeez!!

If you look online it explains how you can get expedited processing. Costs more naturally. You can’t just turn up you need an appointment. You have time to sort it though, but get on to it ASAP

Call the Perth office and they will make an appointment for you. They can be issued very quickly. I had an appointment the day after my citizenship ceremony and had it issued that afternoon
