Children And RRV Application.
#1
I have recently been granted a one year RRV.......I now have my childrens freshly issued first adult passports as there was less than six months on their old child passports and was informed immigration like 6 months or more for an application. So now is time to complete my Daughters application.
On form 1085.....Application for a Resident Return Visa, question number 24 asks "Are you a dependent family member of a person who holds an RRV" So as I have a RRV the answer is yes.
My question is......
When I get to the section that asks "Have you been absent from Australia for a continuous period of 5 years...... Which my Daughter has,and "Do you have compelling reasons for the absence?"
Can I tick the box answering NO? as she was only 13 when leaving Australia in the knowledge knowing I'm her dependent and have already been granted a visa.
Finally this question number 25 "Do you have substantial business, cultural, employment or personal ties
with Australia which are of benefit to Australia?"
Can I use my RRV grant as personal ties as none of the other applies to my Daughter?
Thank You.

You should answer the questions truthfully. Did you declare compelling reasons on your own RRV application?

The observation being that the answers should be consistent with what you declared on your own RRV application. If you did not have compelling reasons on your own application form, then clearly the answer for your daughter should also be NO unless there is something especially different for her case.
Where someone is the dependent child of an RRV holder, some of the questions on the form are largely irrelevant. Not completely, though. Sometimes, there are cases where a person may qualify for an RRV both on their own merits and based on being a dependent.

My compelling reasons were that I had a job offer which commences January 2015 and my elder Daughter lives and works in Australia.
What compelling reasons would I state for a 16 and 17 year old on their RRV applications?

I think JAJ is referring to compelling reasons for your daughter's absence from Australia for a continuous period of five years rather than the reasons you put forward for why they should grant you a RRV.
You may not have been absent for 5 years, but if you were, what were your compelling reasons? Would your daughter's have been the same?
Far be it from me to tell you what JAJ is saying, but I think he is intimating that it doesn't really matter because she will qualify for a RRV because she is your dependent in any case.

If you have an RRV, your daughter can get one as a dependent, with the same expiry date. No compelling reasons needed.
Appears that you may be making this more complicated than it needs to be.
However, you could always state that your daughter's compelling reasons were to accompany you, if that is true. Who knows - they may accept that, and if they do, her RRV will expire after 1 year, not at the same time as yours.
