Default Child has visual impairment: ? Likely visa will be refused?

Hi, we've started the long road of exploring moving from UK to Aus. Myself and husband are likely to be ok points wise (nurse and engineer respectively) however I feel starting an application maybe futile.

My youngest child has a moderate visual impairment. He is 2. He starts mainstream nursery soon and his health and development otherwise is normal. He will require some adaption at school ( large text print etc).
I appreciate it's difficult to say for certain but from what I have read it's likely we'll be refused a PR visa. Any experience that confirms or challenges this would be really appreciated.
Thank you
Lou

Quite possibly but none of us can really tell you, there are agents who specialise in medical conditions and the impact they may have on visa applications - the ones generally recommended are George Lombard, Peter Bollard and Richard Gregan. In general though, if a child is needy enough to be eligible for disability support in school then they are likely to be refused a visa. If they don’t meet the eligibility for disability support in schools then they are more likely to get a visa. Bit of a Catch 22 really.

Thank you for that. I'll perhaps get in touch with a contact you mention above before I completely give up on applying.

For what it's worth Lou, I definitely wouldn't give up yet. One of the agents mentioned above may be able to give you a free or low cost initial appointment, which will help you to be much more informed about your chances.

Wishing you the best of luck

Thanks for the encouragement. It's so costly if the odds are against us. I have contacted a migration agent for an initial consultation. Will update for anyone else in similar situation. Lou

Just be aware, regardless of availability of actually getting visas, the overall costs of migrating will make that look like a tiny drop in the ocean and then factor in almost half of people that do it find themselves returning.
