I thought I read on here some time ago that if you get a PR visa (136 skilled) you can claim child benefit as soon as you get to Oz.

My sis in law arrived in Perth a couple of weeks ago and she says that she has been told she cannot get it.

Does anyone know??? She did say the women she saw wasn't positive that she wasn't entiltled. How can she find out???

It's not called Child Benefit - it's called Family Tax Benefit Part A.

There is a means test (on income) however for this benefit, the 2 year waiting period for new PRs does not apply.
