Default Certified Copies!

Hi all,

Am I right in thinking that ceartified copies are photocopies of original documents which are signed and certified as true by someone very important?

In the UK who would this important person be? Would a GP do? Or a solicitor. Whats best? Has anyone had any copies queried by DIMIA.

Thanks all

SS

Have a look at this thread

It seems most people call around (which I did myself) their local solicitors for the best price.

We were charge £30 - had about 50 done and she said any more we wanted just ring up and she would do them at no extra charge.

In the UK, a solicitor or a Justice of the Peace (JP) is a safe bet.

It's very important to ring around. I've had a whole sheaf (15-20
pages) done for GBP5 from a UK solicitor in the past.

Ask around your circle of friends/colleagues, there's a good chance
you'll know someone who either is, or knows, a solicitor or JP.

JP's don't charge.

Jeremy

We usually get certified copies done at our bank (Natwest) and they haven't charged us for doing it. This has included all passport copies, birth/marriage certs etc. The banks have to do so many certified copies to cover money laundering restrictions that they don't seem to mind a few more for their own customers.
