My husband has just passed his assessment and was planning on sending all the information/forms for the 175 visa this week we are just waiting for my sons passport to come back.
Basically is there any point now??? Spending more money??

There is always a point, there is an economic downturn so obviously skills are not in demand as they were. The recession will pass eventually and they will need skilled labour again. I would say carry on as you were and get your name in the hat. If you aint in it, you can't win it.

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!!
Cmon people you still have the option of getting a state sponsership! Most trade occupations are on their wanted list so go for it before the states follow suit and refuse to sponser..
Look at it this way - waiting for your app. in your home country V waiting (usually 2 years) while your in regional australia (or wherever you get sponsered for)
all is certainly NOT lost

In the light of the CSL changes we applied for sponsorship, first thing this morning. Now for the 4 to 6 week wait for that to come back..... Oh how I love this waiting.... suppose I should get used to it really.....

I'm gonna try and do the same Janna, unfortunately though I'll have to wait til I get this IELTS out of the way, which is on Saturday. Which state did you apply to?

WA. I did the application before I started work this morning. I couldn't concentrate on anything until I got that sorted. Not what we wanted but a visa all the same.... Good luck for your test on Saturday. Will be thinking of you. I am sure you will be fine!
