Can i speed up permanent residency?
Is there any way I can speed up my permanent residency? I'm from the uk and my wife is an Australian citizen. We've been married over 2 years and emigrated to Australia in Jan of this year. We had our first child on the 2nd April. I've been working for 10 weeks.

If it's a spouse visa, then short of making a new onshore application, there's not a fat lot that can be done to speed things up.

Assuming you are on a temporary spouse visa (820), I believe you have two choices. Wait two years from when you got it and you will get a permanent visa (801) if the relationship is ongoing at that time.
Alternatively you could apply again from scratch. As you now have a child and have been married two years, you would qualify for a permanent visa - see http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/part...visa-works.htm.
What I don't think you can do is speed up the temporary to permanent two year timeframe because you now have a child together.

But there is a third option which may work for some, which is to apply for an (offshore) permanent employer nominated visa.
