Can I add my mother to my application
Hi,
A friend from India, experienced IT Network Eng, under 35 y/o,
married, one child, wants to know if he can add his mother to his immi
application to Oz? He has only one sister living in Canada. Thanks!
What are his chances to get an immi visa for Australia?

Ask him to read Page 50 of the March 2003 version of the Skilled Migration Booklet.
Bear in mind that the onus is on him to prove that his mother is reliant on him more than anyone else for support. Not something easily achieved.

What are the chances it'll rain tomorrow?

If Mother's English is not up to standard, he will have to pay some
fees for that, and she must be in good health.

Re: Can I add my mother to my application
The answer is twofold:
1. If your mother is widowed it may be possible if she is financially
supported by you, and you can prove this, although DIMIA will be
sceptical BUT ...
2. If you succeed in proving dependency, you may be storing up a
bigger problem if your mother has a health problem (or less likely, a
ciminal record). Under the 'one fails, all fail' rule if your mother
was proved to be dependent and then was found out to be medically
inadmissable - common in elderly people - the whole family's
application would be refused.

This is not intended to be legal advice in any jurisdiction
