Calling all OT's - advice needed please!
Hi there,
A very good friend of mine is looking to move to Australia and she is hoping that she can get there with her profession. As you'll have notced from the title she is an Occupational Therapist!
Does anyone have any information that might help her get started?
Firstly she was looking at Melbourne but I think she would be open to look into anywhere coastal.
Any info or advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Leann.

Hi THere,
What area does your friend work in? Mental health OT's are in huge demand in oz at the moment, especially queensland.
The first thing she needs to do is have her UK qualifications Recognised by the COTRB in Australia. You can find all the info by googling the COTRB. This is a long process, usually takes 12 weeks to process all the documents and costs $500. She will then be in a better position to apply for jobs once she has done this.
I am an OT who is trying to get a 457 sponsored visa and am trawling trough websites such as www.seek.com.au, www.careerone.com.au and the OTaustralia website which has jobs posted. ALso the recruitment agencies such as allied health.com and rsg are good and they generally get back to you pretty quickly. I have found though that most of the jobs they are willing to sponsor you for are in rural areas as these are the hardest to fill!!
Hope this helps
Emma
