We are looking at moving to Aus. I might have a problem getting enough points though if ACS dont like my RPL so we thought that we would like to buy a small business for my wife to run (around $100000 to $200000).
Is there a visa that would alow us to buy a small business and get PR. Is there a quick way to do this? Would I be able to get a job and work as normal?
Thanks
Jonathan

Thanks. That unfortunately puts that plan out the window. We are going for skilled independant but are also looking at what would be another option if I dont get a positive ACS assesment in one of the in demand jobs. With 2 years working in AUS I would have enough points.
I could get a temporary visa by getting the easier TRA assessment and could easily get a job earning a lower salary that I would like but it would be a way in. Once there on my temporary visa, is there then anything stopping us buying a business for my wife to run and supplement the lower income I would earn until I got the 2 years working experience to be able to get PR.

Exellent question. My girlfriend & I are on the final stage of our SIR
visa application, would it be possible for me to buy a small business
and still meet the second stage SIR requirements? My girlfriend will
hopefully be working fulltime and leave me with the shop.
Or would it be better for my girlfriend to try and gain an employer
sponsorship.
Any & all advice will be appreciated.

One of the pathways to permanent residency for SIR visaholders is via the State Sponsored Business Owner visa, subclass number 892 ... see:
