Default Australian Tax on Income

According to what I read, Australia requires income tax on its
residents. Do you become a resident as soon as you validate your visa?

Suppose you validate your visa and then remain out of Australia for the
next 2 years. Does that mean you are required to pay Oz income tax
during those 2 years? (In addition to the income tax you have to pay on
where you are currently working).

Thankfully not...

I am no expert on this, but as far as I know the tax has their own idea on residency which will be based on the time you are there in any tax year and if Oz is your home. You could well have a problem however if you go to Oz work for 2 months then come back 'home' for a year !

Regards,

Brian.
