Default Australia Emigration

I am looking for some info on emigrating to Australia I have been on internet but thought would get the best info from the people that know best. My Wife is currently studying for her Midwifery degree and when its completed we was looking to emigrate. Whats the best way to start looking and is it best to go to a company who deal in this or is it best to sort it out as much as you can.I am coming up to 40 and my Wife is 34 i currently work as a storeman but I am currently studying for a A+ PC engineer would these jobs help in our application. Any help or comments would be most appreciated but be gentle, this is my 1st post? Many Thanks

Hi Woodster

First off its a good idea to check on the in demand lists (MODL CSL). You can view these on the DIAC website (dep't for immigration and citizenship). Go to www.immi.gov.au and have a good look around. Its not an easy site but tak some time and all the answers are their somewhere.

If you are going to have your wife as the main applicant. She will need to have worked in her chosen prfession (midwifery) for a certain number of years (not sure exactly of the number but some kind person will help you out there).

Either way you will have to submit your application before you turn 45 so you need to get a move on .

you can use an agent or do your application online, thats upto you. I personally used an agent but of course theres some expense there. George Lombard seems to be popular and he does post invaluable information on this site free of charge.

Hi, assuming you will be going on your Wife's visa the following will apply:

Finish training
Work for at least 1 year as Midwife
Skills assessment from ANMC
Once received then apply for visa

There are other routes but im just talking about the 175.

Dont know where your wife is in her training but you have a bit of time yet to get familiar with visas etc

Best wishes

Computer related professions require minimum of 4 years in the field, that goes up to 6 or 8, depending on the education that you have. If you are just retraining to become a PC engineer, you may not want to wait this long to become eligible for migration as a primary applicant. It appears that your wife has a better shot at it as a primary, and you just be a man and sail along
