Default Applying for spouse / de-facto visa from the UK - do I need to attach my passport?

I need to travel within Europe for business while waiting for my temporary de-facto visa. The waiting time seems to be about two weeks. Do I need to attach my passport with the application, preventing me from travelling outside the UK?

No, hang on to the passport, then when they are ready to grant the visa they will contact you and ask you to submit it
