Applying for OZ immigration
Hi,
My wife and I are about to apply for immigration to OZ. However we have got
something unclear, and hope someone out there can help with the following
points:
1) Should we wait for my skill assessment outcome? We did our assessments at
the same time, and the wife got her positive result ~2 months ago. I checked
with ACS, and they said my assessment is still in process. I am not sure if
we should apply without my skill assessment, just in case they raise the
pass mark again. Is It correct that we can always add more supporting
information to our immigration application (i.e.. tell them when I pass my
skill assessment)?
2) Do we need to take an IELTS exam to claim for maximum points for language
ability? Though English is not our first language, we both hold degrees from
British universities, and have worked in the UK for the past two years.
Thanks in advance
Raymond

Yes. A valid application must include a skills assessment report.

It depends on your nationality, and educational background. To be
sure, an IELTS test will make your language points assessment
objective.

I understand that. The wife has got her skill assessment report back. I
think my question is really down to whether it is worthy to wait for my
additional 5 point. Base on our calculation, we can get 125 points without
points from the spouse section. I also worry if the DIMIA will raise the
pass mark again soon.

Re: Applying for OZ immigration
If you are the main applicant then you *must* wait for your own skills
assessment. You cannot legally apply for skilled migration without
it.
