Lightbulb Applying for Citizenship -- without waiting the full 4 years

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any tips or information on applying for Australian Citizenship earlier than the 4 years required residence.

I am an Australian PR (under 175 Skilled Migration) that is currently living in Australia.

I have been here for 2 years. Family circumstances (with my parents' health) may require me to leave Australia.

I was wondering if there is a way to apply for Australian citizenship earlier than 4 years of residence in Australia.

If you have had any experience with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

So when DIAC say "why do you want citizenship before everyone else"?
Your answer will be "so that I can leave the country."

Not going to happen.

Had you been to Australia before you moved e.g. on a validation trip? If so, when and when did you move?

Would getting a RRV be a way of getting back in if you have to leave before you can apply for citizenship??

Not sure of whether you can get one before your visa runs out, as I've never had to do so, but I'm sure someone out there knows.

Or you can be good at cricket, like the Pakistani cricketer that received his citizenship today just 6 months after he got PR.

I think its the ONLY option if he was travelling after his travel period had expired.

I'm sure you can apply for these before it does so incase of emergency you can get back in after the expiry period has ended.
