Anyone migrated from Singapore?
I am a chinese living in Singapore. IT Graduated from Queensland University
Technology in 1993.
I like to know anyone can share their experience in emigration process as well as the
current situation in Australia.
I would also like to know my chances to get my PR in Australia.
Thanks Ben

I haven't succeeded in migrating yet, but I'm planning to start the application process soon.

My husband and I submitted ours in March 2001 (to Singapore AHC) and our medical and
police check were requested only last March. Last 16th of May, received the pre-grant
letter for our visa. Our first entry date is on the 13th of November 2002.

Hi Noreeni
May I know how much did you spend on the whole application?

Re: Anyone migrated from Singapore?
Hi Seehion,
I submitted my application on 19 April 2002 to Adelaide. I received my acknowledgement on 16 May 2002.
It appears you and I have very similar background ie I graduated from Curtin University in 1993.
I think you have an excellent chance if you move quickly. The way points keep going up, who knows what could change next?

Re: Anyone migrated from Singapore?
I submitted my application under spouse sponsorship (my wife's aussie) in Feb. So,
patiently waiting for the outcome. But not sure if my experience is suitable for you.
I was giveb the "acknowledgement" letter on the spot when i submitted the
application. I was also told to go for my medical checks and get the police cert
(both which I did on the same day). I recommend you going to the SATA clinic (at
Kreta Ayer) which is within walking distance from the new Police HQ so you can do
both on the same day.
The acknowledgement letter also stated that I need to submit more documents, which I
duly sent (in person) a few weeks later.

Spouse applications are different process all together.
All applications for skilled independent category MUST be lodged with the Skilled
Processing Centre in Adelaide. Any applications lodged elsewhere will be classified
as an invalid application.
Ben, would suggest that you look at the points test and work out exactly where you
stand. What I can gather from your occupation, (presumed) work experience, (presumed)
age and your qualifications, I would say that you are looking good for the
application.
Best of luck with it.
Regards,
Jamie Lingham.
