Default Anyone applying for a class 139 Visa?

Hello,
Any one else on a 139 visa? Just seeking to compare times. We applied in April 2004....heard nothing yet..but it's early...awaiting calls for medicals. Anyone in a similar position or has been through process and can enlightned us roughly with process times? Wondering on chances of being in Brisbane for Christmas?
Regards

Considering subclass 139 is supposed to be prioritised, it seems surprising that you've not had a medicals request yet. Have you got an acknowledgement/file reference from Adelaide?

Are your relatives in Brisbane too? If so, are you sure you qualify for subclass 139 (designated area sponsored) as opposed to subclass 138 (Skilled Australian Sponsored)?

No, our rellies are in Melbourne but hubby's best mate is in Brisbane. We thought we'd try 2 weeks in both but are fairly sure that Brisbane is our destination as work is better there for us. Our sponsor is in Melbourne. We have had acknowledgement months ago, yes, but still nothing else.

Sorry for my ignorance...I keep seeing TRA... what's that stand for.... Is that the skills/employment assesment thingy? That's so infuriating about all the changes in July, if only we'd held off for a few more months! RATS!

Good luck with your application. Do post when you hear good news.

TRA stands for Trades Recognition Australia.

It's one of the skill assessing authorities (dealing with tradesmen). There are others for different occupations.

Is this true? I never knew a subclass 139 was a priority! Is it not just 136?

Cool Re: Anyone applying for a class 139 Visa?

Hi , me and the husband are also on 139 visa- we sent off our application in early May, got acknowledgement 25th June but nothing since- I thought that the processing time was supossed to be 4-6 months but its already been 3 months and no news.
I think the 4-6 months goes from the date you get the acknowlegement letter.
Anyway I guess we will all have to keep on waiting !!!!
Good luck

We both should have had call up's for medicals by now! Did you know that 139 was a priority class? 1st I've heard! Are you through an agent or D.I.Y?

Hi Collete
We (Adele, Nigel &2 kids Jake5, Leah2), are applying for the 139 visa. We lodged our original application on MARCH 13, Received our reference number on MAY 4th, we were asked on May 20th to have our medicals which we did early JUNE. On 11 AUGUST we received a letter from ADELAIDE saying Centerlink were now processing the final part of our application.
So for us, all appears to be going WELL.
Good luck & we hope you have good news soon.

Hi

We are skilled sponsored and our assuror was passed by Centrelink last Monday. I think we may be the only applicants who use the forum who have had their assuror interviewed and passed, may be wrong thou but I haven't seen any.

For us this is the most frustrating part of the process as we just don't know how quickly DIMIA turn things around once info is received back from Centrelink. However the 50 weeks is up mid September so we are hoping to hear somthing before then.
