Default Any success in converting 175 to 176 ???

Hello All,

Is there any successful case where the initial application was 175 and then it got converted to 176 after getting state sponsorship. I would like to know the process of converting from 175 to 176.

It would be great help if anybody tried or knows about this process.

Thanks,
CD

Hi
Why would you swap from a 175 to a 176 if already submitted, i looked into this purly on a selfish note in light of the new lists out, but i applied in sept 08 so i think its not worth it for myself.

Yes, I did one a couple of weeks ago - client was 175 painter applied March and had no case officer - had booked flights for February. When painters were not on CSL we lodged State sponsorship just before Christmas. The application for a 175 is already also an application for a 176. When DIAC received the Form 1100 from teh state they immediately allocated a CO and application ahs been approved.

I would have said that a 175 from March was pretty much due a CO anyway.

so you would have risked losing your money on the flights for a family of four booked out on 2nd February ? There was no chance that the application was going to get allocated in time.

DIAC are not even looking at non State and non CSL cases until March so no MODL cases will be allocated for another month at least. Here is the info I have:

Priority group 1 - State/territory sponsored.
Immigration have advised that they expect all state sponsored applications (that is, applications which have a current state sponsorship approval attached) will be allocated to case officers by 13 Feb. Please note that allocation doesn't mean that we'll hear from them by 13 Feb, as it sometimes takes a case officer a week or two to get through to a file once it's allocated.

Priority Group 2 - Critical Skills List (CSL)
Once when all state sponsored applications have been allocated, then applications with occupations on the CSL will be allocated. While Immigration haven't given a timetable, we'd expect that this may happen around end Feb-early March. However, this remains to be seen.

Priority Group 3 - Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL).
Once when all state sponsored and CSL applications have been allocated, then applications with occupations on the MODL will be allocated. While Immigration haven't given a timetable,it's a bit early to guess when this might be. Given that most (but not all) MODL occupations are on CSL, there shouldn't be a huge number of these.

Priority Group 4 - The Rest
Once when all state sponsored, CSL and MODL applications have been allocated, the remaining applications will be allocated. It's impossible to guess when this may happen, but my guess is that we will be in for quite a wait for these, although trying to put a number on this is impossible.

I guess that would have been the case under the "old" rules, but it appears that they're currently not allocating CO's to anyone without state sponsorship.
