Default Any chance in very general terms?

I'm completely new to this forum, but wonder if I explain in VERY basic terms our set up in the UK, could anyone give an idea if we have a chance to migrate to Australia?

I'm 33, a Senior Information analyst for North Lincolnshire council earning 26K, My wife (26) is an ODP (Lsimilar to a nurse) earning similar amount. We have 3 girls one aged 3, and twins at 1.

Our house is probably worth 150K. Anyone got any idea how easy / possible this would be. How much effort would be involved / how easy is it to find jobs?

Please forgive if it sounds like I'm trying to skip doing any research myself, Thanks, Rick.

Hi Rick,

Moving is a nightmare, make no bones about it, but the benefits seem to be worth it judging by what goes on in the lifestyle forums here.

My interest is just the conceptual one of whether it can be done for you under general skilled migration, and I have to say that if you're in IT you've got a shot, but if not it might be more difficult, however it's worth asking here if anyone can see your wife qualifying as a nurse since that would be a magic ticket. Is this what she does: http://www.aodp.org/what_is_an_odp.aspx?submenu=16

Cheers,

Ooops forgot to mention, although I am now an Info Analyst, I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional. Although this is now a little dated, Qualified in yr 2000, mostly using MS Access and to a lesser extent SQL Server.

Do you think this experiance would help - I'd be a little rusty though. Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,

So you might be a DBA or are you just an end-user?

Cheers,

Absolutley not an end user, But DBA might be streatching it a little now. Between 1998 - 2002 I used Access 97, 2k and 2k2. Building DBs from scratch and modifying existing systems. Both Access DBs and Client-Server, with Access as front-end to SQL Server (2000) db.

I from 2002 until 2006 most of my work was actually a little easier, automating tasks that used to be done manually in Excel, Writing VBA in Excel or imorting to Access/SQL Server.

So, to summarise, I'm rusty, but did enjoy this work, and understood to the level of qualifying in 2000. Since 2006 I've been working more to do with reporting & performance indicators & submitting returns, and managing 2 staff.

Thanks, Rick.
