Default Any asthmatics had meds done yet?

Hello all,

I was just wondering if there are any asthma sufferers out there that have
had their meds done but did not have additional information or medical
records requested by LCU?

I have filled the form in ready for my meds and put down that I am
asthmatic, although it is completely controlled and does not affect me
exercising and enjoying lots of sports.

I just wondered if the panel doctor makes a diagnosis of the severity of the
asthma and LCU go by the docs recommendation, or do LCU automatically
request your medical notes and / or further in depths test regardless.

So, any one on here got asthma but sailed through the meds with no extra
info requested from LCU?

Thanks.

Im asthmatic with a peak flow of 650 (not always) and didnt have any problems. I put down that I was in hospital a few years ago with flu that affected my asthma and Im fine now.

LCU processed my meds back in April and so far (fingers crossed), I have not heard anything back to say there is a problem. I also put down the medication I am on and the panel doctor said my lungs are better than his!

Whether or not our CO will ask for anything I dont know, all I know is that up to date, LCU have not.

Good luck.

Hi - I also have asthma and like you it doesn't affect my day to day life at all. Had Meds done in March - the panel doc said it wasn't a problem at all.

That's all good news then, thanks.

I can't remember what my peak flow is, but I have hit the end of the tube in
the past. I usually get bit of a surprised response from the nurse when I go
to the asthma clinic. Amazing how an "asthmatic" can have such strong lungs.
I think it's the cycling that does it, builds good strong lungs.

Funny how I can jump on a bike and ride hard for miles and miles and hours
and hours up all sorts of hills etc, and yet be floored by a dog hair or
pollen particle???

Anyway, I dare say I'll find out soon enough what the doc will say as we go
for meds a week on Friday. Xrays tomorrow night.

Thanks again.

Just to let you know that my son has asthma. We have just found out that his meds have been finalised so all clear without any additional information being requires. I just listed on the form his medication and explained it is in the hay fever season on when he gets a cold it settles on his chest. Hope this puts your mind at rest.

Pity the same can't be said for my husbands chest xray which has been referred!!!!!

Hi
It may be a good idea to get a letter from your doctor/ Asthma nurse stating how your asthma is managed and drugs you are on etc it may help to make the panel doctor give you a category A as that is what i got

Thanks, I might try and get an appointment with our doc then. Although I
doubt I'll get in before the meds now.

I put it down on the med thing that I had ,albeit mild asthma, and like
another poster on here only caused in certain
circumstances....pollen...grass...lack of beer (kidding).

Was not a problem at all.

As a sidenote the usual blue ventolin inhalers are available without the
need for a prescription from pharmacies here..which is very handy.

Come to think of it the attacks I used to get in Europe havent really
surfaced in three and a half years down here and have only once needed to
pick one up as a matter of 'if needed' as the old ones date expired.

Good Luck

Thanks Glenn, glad to hear your chest is better over there. I have heard
conflicting reports that people suffer better / worse than in the UK.

Out of interest, where are you in Oz and how much are the blue inhalers over
the counter?

Cheers.

Hi mate,

I'm in Sydney at the moment but regularly travel up to far north Queensland
and other places,so cant say its been even a humidity trigger either.

Its strange because one of the reasons the inhalers themselves became
available over the counter was that supposedly there is a problem with
asthma over here......seems not my type of asthma problem/trigger.
Hopefully you have the same issue.

My problem was fairly limited to several months in Europe every year but
then it was usually on a daily basis I needed the good old blue puffer more
than several occasions on each.

As for cost....well off the top of my head cant remember...was so long ago
fortunately.

But as an idea you can buy them online (genuine outlets) and they cost in
the region of 8-9 bucks for 2.
Well below the EU price I'm guessing.

chemistaustralia.com.au has a very good site you can wander around for an
idea on other medications as an idea as well....and they are a known good
supplier btw.

Hope this helps.

Glenn

Cheers mate,

We're looking at Melbourne - hopefully I'll find it better than here. Mine
also is very seasonal, now being the worst time. Bloody typical as meds are
next week.

Thanks for the link, I'll take a look at that. If the blues are as cheap as
you think then that is beaut. I normally get given 2 on one prescription and
that is now 6.50, ( say $16 ).

Thanks again.
