Default Another what visa ?

I qualify as a nurse in Aug 07 and like many others face the prospect of no available jobs.

We want to go to Aus for a couple of years whilst we wait for our US green card. Me hubby and 2 kids.

Is there a visa i can apply for that will allow the kids to receive free schooling and let my husband work.

One of the hospitals said i should look at a 4 year business visa, whilst others have said a 457.

We had originally planned on migrating to Perth, but were advised that due to my son having learning difficulties, PR would be a tricky and expensive process with no guarantee of success as son would be deemed a drain on the public purse. will getting a temp visa prove to be as challenging?
also any idea of timescales involved?

any advice would be appreciated

many thanks

Hi Nick,

If you answer the visa application forms correctly they may well ask your child to do a full medical even on a 457. However assuming that you sneak through that way, you certainly wouldn't get free school education in NSW - not sure if any other state school systems have introduced charges for temporary visa holders.

Cheers,
