Default Allied Pickfords???

Hi all......

We've got a girl from Allied Pickfords coming out to
see us next week, to give us a quote for moving our
stuff from the UK to Perth WA.

(Hoping to finally get out there for the end of March).

Anyone used them, & can let me know how they compare,
price / quality of service wise, to other shippers.

Cheers...... John & Gillian......

P. S. Good luck to Jo, & Matt Tallents, who fly out to Perth today!!!

We used them from the UK to Oz and had no end of trouble.
They damaged a lot of things like broken glass with the paintings, etc. But
the biggest problem is that their insurance is very difficult to claim on.
They damaged beyond repair a new Zanuzi washer/dryer, but would not cover it
under the insurance policy because they said we put too low a value down on
the insurance form, yet we put the price we paid for it at Curry's.
They said that in Australia the equivalent model was 3 times that price to
buy, so they refused to pay for any repair. We paid quite a lot for their
insurance and never got one penny out of them.

By the way the goods turned up 6 months later than they said they would
arrive.

'damaged beyond repair' means that it cannot be repaired. They should pay you the amount you insured it for - that's what they did with me. If they don't pay up then sue them.

I used Pickfords and, apart from a few small breakages, they were pretty good overall. See my longer post on another thread.

We used them in November last year, moving from Singapore to Melbourne.
Their services were ok. Keep a hard copy of any infomation given to you to
avoid any disputes. We had another quotation from Crown Relocation, very
competitive too.
Good Luck...
