Default Age limit for visa 45; a query...

I thought I'd read somewhere on this forum, that so long as you'd submitted your visa application right up til the day before you turn 45, you will still be allocated the visa, or words to that effect. Could somebody shed some light on this for me?

Thanks for that.
Dunno who to believe now though.

My migration agent said "You must be under 45 at the time that the visa is assessed for it to be granted." [Quote from the email I got] and I've been calculating my timeline according to this info.

If it is as you say though then it does give me a lot more leeway

Thanks

Paul

Maybe it is a semantics issue with your agent (e.g. by 'assessed' he means starting at the time you make the application). The rules are very clear, it is under 45 at the date you submit the application.

Just to reassure you, I submitted my visa two weeks before my 45th birthday and it was granted (not surprisingly) once I was 45.

We submitted 3 days before OH turned 45yrs (not a planned situation!) and now have our visa - its a submitted (and received by DIAC in their time zone) deadline not granted.

This is not correct - we have lodged skilled visa applications on 45th birthday minus 1 day - and visas have been granted.

Best regards.

hi Allan. how about state sponsorships? i lodged when i was 44 and i turned 45 last year. i want to consider getting a state sponsorship due to the changes. if i understand it right, the max age of 45 is for visa application and not application to state sponsorship. am i right?

thanks in advance

Yes, my agent also confirmed that the age limit only applies up till the time of lodgement of the visa application. I must have just missunderstood what he meant.

Cheers

Paul
