Advice for 482 visa
Does anyone have any advice they could give me on the best way to gain sponsorship from an employer? I have been contacting recruiters over the past few days, via the recruitment companies website and through linkedin.
I dont plan to relocate until April so still have 6 months, however, just wondering if anyone has any useful tips they could provide me with.
I briefly read on a site that you can launch an eoi through skill select and employers view to see if they are willing to sponsor anyone, any truth behind this? My initial plan was to go down the pr route, therefore, not so clued up on the temp route.
cheers

In theory, yes, you can lodge an eoi, but pointless. Employers don't trawl the department website looking for people. Partlicularly new grads, which I believe you are?
The big things to note are that:
1 A lot fewer employers now sponsor as it has become expensive and processing times have blown out to many months - if you were to get a sponsor today, a 482 may not be processed by April.
2. It is temporary. So you are not migrating, measly going for a couple of years. There is no automatic path to PR and not unusual to find someone who goes on a temp visa only to find down the line the options for getting PR have closed.
3. It is tied to the employer. So, lose your job for any reason, you lose the visa.

Been out of uni for 2 and a half years now.
just to reply to your points:
1. The website states, processing times for medium term are 66 days, dont know where you are getting those processing times from?
2. The medium term is a 4 year visa, pr available after 3 years according to the visa description, also, i would not take on a role where the employer wasnt prepared to give me pr further down the line.
Anyway I was asking about the best methods to get sponsored?

482 could get me out in april, with a job lined up etc and would still be able to get pr a few years down the line, kind of my thinking behind things...

Re: Advice for 482 visa
I know man, I'm only 5 points short as well (crying emoji), I've sat ielts twice now and pte, can't seem to get the 20 points. I would be eligible in june for my 190 because i would get 5 points on experience but its just the whole waiting I cant stand, if i couldn't get the 20 points from ielts, then june is 8 months from now, throw in another 9-12 months for eoi and application process. Its a long time to wait when you are still staying with your parents etc.

Only way to find a sponsor is the same way people used to find them for 457s - contact every possible employer and ask.

Re: Advice for 482 visa
There is no guarantee of a 482 processing by April, especially is your sponsor is not already approved. At present 90% process within the tieline, but bear in mind it is a very new visa and timelines are still adjusting.

If if someone goes on a temp visa, they have to assume they will be returning to their home country.
The he only way to obtain a temp visa is to apply for jobs.
My knowledge of processing times is based on being a moderator on two large forums, where we are seeing averages of about 6 months, but with a fair few going well over that.

Do either of you know whether you can launch an eoi for a pr visa whilst on a temp visa like the 482? Searched online and on the forum and can't see anything.
