Default ACS query and passport issue

Hello Sir/Madam

My query is that i want to apply for Australia immigration under subclass visa 190. I want to apply for ACS first.

My concern is that i am married now from 3 years but the changes like spouse name, address change have not been made in my current passport.
Moreover , i want to come along with my spouse to Australia , so i believe these changes are mandatory.

If i apply for the above mentioned changes in my passport then i guess i will be issued a new passport with new passport number.

So the question is "Can i still get my ACS assessment done online using my current passport number or i should apply with the new passport number ( the one that will be generated after making changes )." At the same time i would apply for the changes and get a new passport. Thus, i would use my new passport number in the Visa application.

Somebody Please help me out regarding this.
Eagerly Waiting for your prompt reply.

Thanks & Regards

If you mean your passport is still in your name from before marriage, then the name in your passport should be the name that you use in daily life, which is not always a married name, many women still use their maiden names. If you use your married name then you need to change your passport, if you use your maiden name, don't bother.
If you mean the passport doesn't contain your spouse's name, DIAC won't care. Most passports, including UK and Australian, don't contain that. Likewise, many passports do not have addresses in them. DIAC will not be bothered about what address is in the passport.

It doesn't matter which one you use for ACS, the neew one or the old one.

hi pollyana

thanks a ton for your reply.
My concern is that :
1. since i am the primary applicant, my spouse will come along with me to Australia as my dependent. So to show that i will have to make changes in my passport i.e. i need to get added his name in my passport as "Spouse Name". Will that be modified in the same passport or i will be issued a new one.

2. Moreover is this enough evidence for DIAC . Isn't it necessary for me to get my address modified ?

3. You mean to say that only by including my husband's name in my passport i can apply for ACS, visa and all other major formalities required?

Thanks
Supriya

Most passports - including UK and Australian ones, which are the main ones used by posters on here - do not have "Spouse's Name" in them. Nor do they have an address in them. Thus DIAC will not be interested in whether you have an address and a "Spouse's name" in your passport. They are only interested in the fact that it is YOUR passport and proof of your identity.

Your spouse, as your dependent, will need his own passport to travel rto Australia, with his own details in it and that will be linked to his own visa. A copy of that passport will need to be sent to DIAC as part of your application.

If your own country requires you to have your spouse's name, and your address, in your passport you will need to consult their own guidelines, not Australia's.
