ACS Professional level accredited MSc
Hi again,
I am a planing to pursue an MS in IT from Feb 2003 and upon
finishing it, applying for PR as an "On shore student".
Under the New Guidelines coming to effect from Oct 1, 2002,
I would like to inquire whether *only* the Masters Degrees which are
listed in the web page "Accredited Tertiary courses"
[
http://www.acs.org.au/COURS20_2.htm
]
as accredited at "Professional Level",
are assessed suitable for migration
under clauses "2.1.4" and "2.1.5"
Could I also ask the minimum course duration of an MSc with a major in
IT which follows a degree level qualification with a major in IT to be assessed
suitable for migration under clause "2.1.5" ?
I have asked ACS this questions through email, but they seem
to send some "standard response" which does not have answers
to my questions.
Thank you for your help

Re: ACS Professional level accredited MSc
I'm constantly amazed by people who are seemingly prepared to spend
thousands and thousands of dollars on studying in Australia, and yet
prefer to use newsgroups for advice rather than paying a migration
agent a few hundred dollars to check things out.

Hi Ranga,
it might help to reply to the mail from ACS, telling them exactly
that, that the standard response does not help you. They might forward
your question to someone who can answer it.

Re: ACS Professional level accredited MSc
Hi All,
Hi Tina,
I did exactly that. But in vain. The ACS officier asked me to refer to
the 'standard response' he had sent !. Then I again politely asked him
if he would
let me know whom to ask my questions, if it did not lie within his
boundry, for which he hasn't yet replied. It has been about 10 days
since I had asked this.
The best person who could answer my question is the ACS, as it is they
who
set rules. However, if there are people here who got their MSc's
assessed
by the ACS and whose MSc's are not listed in the web page,
[ [url="http://www.acs.org.au/COURS20_2.htm"]http://www.acs.org.au/COURS20_2.htm[/u-
rl] ]
I appreciate their responses.
Thanks

As Jeremy put it earlier, I too am amazed at how much you're willing to spend on your "education" (which in effect is really to secure that PR visa) while you stinge on even an initial consultation with a registered migration agent.
