ACS Assessment Rejection
Hi all
After waiting for several months Ive just had the letter from ACS basically rejecting my 2231-79 application. Obviously we are quite upset and fairly shocked at the result.
I have a total of over 9 years IT experience as a software developer (but no official qualification) and wrote a long detailed and (I thought) very comprehensive RPL report along with the 2 project reports and my CV.
However they have rejected the application on the grounds that I dont have 6 years experience. They then list the work experience that they have calculated which comes to 3yrs and 5 months (covering my job between 1998 and 2002) but seem to have ignored my experience since then. The job I have been doing since then has much more relevance to my application and was what I concentrated my RPL and project reports on - so I am completely confused why they have ignored that, but have only included my earlier experience (when I was a more junior developer!).
I am considering making an appeal but would welcome any advice from anyone who has had a similar rejection. Or can you recommend any agent who might be able to help me?
The main problem is that I dont really know what more I can add to my original application - it just appears that they have ignored (or missed somehow!) the last 5 years of my relevant experience!
Thanks in advance
Barry

Really sorry to hear your news. I think you'd be best contacting an agent that specialises in RPL applications, not sure if George Lombard could help?

Sorry to hear to hear that.
We are looking at the acs assesment at the moment and can't believe that they don't recognise so many of my husbands qualifications:curse:
As a result we are either looking at the rpl route, which looks a nightmare or study for the CISM exam in december, which also has its own list of requirements.:curse:
I was recommended this guy from someone on here and we have contacted him today.

Hope that helps

Re: ACS Assessment Rejection
It is likely that documents you sent to ACS were not stamped by your company. For example: the documents without proper stamps (i.e. CV) does not provide compelling evidence for them to determine if you have experience as you claimed you do.
I think I got the same issue as you did. But I was a bit luckier. I was assessed as suitable for migration. But they totally ignored my experience in J2EE. As a result, I lost 15 marks for MODL. I submitted an appeal application providing more info in the document that was stamped by my employer. In the original application, I only mentioned my experience with J2EE in my CV which was not stamped. The employer reference letter which was stamped did not mention my J2EE experience.
Good luck with the appeal.
FYI, I am still waiting for results of the appeal application. My speculation has not been confirmed by the appeal results yet. I would gladly talk to you in more detail if you want.
BTW, I have an issue (posted at http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...8&goto=newpost) which I don't have the answer for. If you have any clue, please help

Re: ACS Assessment Rejection
I just thought.... are they taking those recent two years off you because you don't have the qualifications that they want?
Because it says in their guidlines that they take two years off rpls

Re: ACS Assessment Rejection
I thought I had more than enough experience, but he broke my cv down to a level that ACS would look at it - and in the end the skills they would accept only accounted for just over 7 years.
It meant that I would need to wait until the 8 years; and also motivated me to do something about it and get the relevant certifications to prove I know my stuff. I had 9 months to wait so it wasn't wasted time and also moved me into the Group B category.

Re: ACS Assessment Rejection
Thank you so much for all your helpful suggestions. I think I will get in touch with Peter Chiam as recommended.
Ive gone over and over the documents that I sent to them and am convinced that there is some small, easy to rectify reason why they have ignored this 5+ years - however I cant see what it is! I guess an agent might be able to spot this...
Ill keep you informed
