Default Acknowl. letter

How long does it take on average to receive the acknowledgement letter
in writing after your credit card has been charged?

Hi Mark,

Here is our info:

In brief, we received our acknowledgement letter by email 4 days after
the application lodgement. We are waiting the paper one now

Best regards,
Ritka

Ritka,

When you say 'lodgement' is this the date you posted the application?

It varies a fair bit....
Some received it within a few days, others (like myself) received it after several weeks. Perhaps recently they have sped things up & are sending out acknowledgements quicker than they were previously though...

Will you get a paper acknowledgement in addition to the email one? As far as I understand, you won't - at least, friends of ours who have submitted in the last few months didn't. They got email acknowledgement only.
(and I requested email acknowledgement, but only got paper acknowledgement)

Hi TOB,
The date of lodgement is the date that it is received. It is stamped on arrival.

Hi Baloo,

There are people (see austimeline.com), who have received email and
paper acknowledgement letter.

I suppose that we'll receive too. But this is mere quesswork.

Best regards,
Ritka

Hi

my credit card was charged on the 17th March (one and a half months after my application arrived in Adelaide).

I still have no acknowledgement letter, and from some of the stories I have heard, I may never get one.

Just waiting on the request for police checks. Ho hum, only 8 or so months to go...

Hi Mel,

I think that you must notify (by email) DIMIA and ask for your file number.

Best regards,
Ritka

Thanks Ritka

I have received something that looks like a file number on an e-mail as there was a problem with my credit card. Apparently this is not an official acknowledgement but it is good enough for me!

To tell the truth I'm afraid to bug them incase my file gets "lost" for a couple of extra months.

Actually, now that I think about it, here's a question:

the e-mail I recieved from ASPC stated REMITTANCE NO xxxxx

Is this my file number?

Hi Mel,

In my opinion this is not the file number.

Our file number looks like:

yyyy/xxxxxx (2003/008743),

where yyyy = lodgement year (2003) and xxxxxx = serial number (008743).

This is only example.

Best regards,
Ritka

Hi Mel

We applied May '02 - independent skilled sub class 136.
Received Acknowledgement at the end of July '02.
Received request for medicals and p/checks on 8th Feb'03 and this was when we were appointed a case officer.

From what I have gathered reading various info on this forum and the austimeline it seems that a case officer is assigned when requesting medicals and p/checks.

Good luck!
