I would like to ask, I am going to apply for the PR in australia as I grad. from my university already and I found that I have high blood pressure, will it result in the rejection of my PR application?

Hope anyone experienced give me some details or suggestion about what should I do. Thanks

High blood pressure is unlikely to lead to rejection of your application unless it is a symptom of a much more serious condition which may lead to excessive cost to the state.

Hi,

Don't worry you should be ok but it may cost you a small fortune for your medical
checks. My husband was found to have a high BP at his medical and the medical forms
insist on a Cardiologist opinion which you have to have done privately. Have you
visited your GP and started on any medication? My husband is only 32 and if you are
found to have a high BP you should automaticaly be referred to a Cardiologist if you
are of a young age to check for any other abnormalities, but it can take 18 months on
the NHS. My husband went to see a Cardiologist and he felt it was hereditary and
produced a report to that effect, he has started on medication and it is now well
controlled. We have our visas the house is being sold and we are off to OZ in
October, so don't panic if there are no other problems that will cost them lots of
money you should be Ok. It may be a good idea to see your Gp and get the ball
rolling. Good Luck Andrea

Couldn't agree more with the above. Basically if you have anything abnormal, advice is to get a report done (doctor/specialist) to take with you to the medical. If you don't, the panel doctor will start asking questions, if you have stated it in your form or if he finds anything that you haven't mentioned. If he/she is worth their salt, and you haven't provided reports they should send you away to get one done to send back to them, before making their final comments and sealing the results.

If they pick something up and they seal everything without submitting any supporting info, at the next stage, the DIMIA medical officer will ask you to provide further reports, thereby delaying any decision.

Also if everything is there for the MO to make a decision first time round, my guess is you will be viewed more favourably as well.

Ditto the above.

When I had my medical my blood pressure (at 36) was just outside the target (140/90). The doctor wrote me a letter and told me to visit my GP. The GP said that it was well within 'normal' tollerances and not to worry but as it was for the application, corroboration was important and he referred me to a cardiologist.

The cardiologist checked me out and said that I had 'white coat' hypertension which could notch the reading up by quite a lot and passed me as fine - ironically the reading had dropped in the ensuing couple of weeks to below the required target.

I paid for the privalege.....

£50 to be wired up for readings, £5 for wee wee test, and wait for it, £150 for a 20 minute consultation and report.

It's enough to give you high blood pressure!!

Seriously though if you need to go down the route of a cardiologist it's a good idea to cut salt out of your diet, make sure that you're doing some exercise and watch what you eat. Nothing like a health scare to focus the mind and increase your exercise regime.

Good luck.
