Re: 887 2nd stage of SIR
DIAC policy is not to request medicals at the permanent stage (887) unless:
• they have spent more than 3 months of their (visa 495) provisional period in a country(s) of very high risk for TB, or more than 12 months of the provisional period in a country(s) of high risk for TB
• there appears to have been marked deterioration in the visa holder’s health since the initial visa 495/475 application, whether noted by the visa decision-maker from observation and/or declared by the applicant as part of “changed circumstances” (note: pregnancy does not, of itself, constitute a deterioration in health) or
• if, for any reason, the visa decision-maker wishes to seek the MOC’s view on the current or previous health assessment, including cases of possible concealment or deception relating to health conditions.
If medicals are re-requested and a condition shows up, the health requirement at this permanent stage is relaxed in that there is room for a waiver of the health requirement in certain circumstances.
