Confused SCV Kiwi is an unknown quantity at this point
Default 861 subclass questions - JAJ?

Ok - a little backgroung

I'm living in oz as a NZ citizen, under SCV visa agreement but want to apply for Australian citizenship.

It appears I need to apply for an 861 subclass visa. However my points calculations put me at 110 10 short of 120 pass mark. I am employed in Aust in a recognised profession (am a public relations professional).

My question is - although I do have current job offer and my role is not in the MODL, do I get points for being currently employed?

I know I could go sponsored and get in on the 110 pass mark but prefer not too.

Also - I have been in oz under SCV for 2 years - will they count towards the period of residence required before Citizenship?

Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks
CK

Why not apply for Employer nomination onshore ? There is no points
test & time on your scv working will mean that you are exempt for
needing to get a skills assessment.

Dear CK,

Jason's right, ENS (or RSMS) might be a way to go. Read Booklet 6 about general skilled migration and Booklet 5 about the employer sponsored options.

The answers to your questions are:

a) read the points test in Booklet 6 - you'll get bonus points for Australian work experience, and points for "specific work experience", but nothing to do with the MODL points;
b) citizenship qualification period currently dates from time of gaining PR.

Cheers,
