Default 50 point assessment and recent work experience

My skills assessment is for a 50 point occupation but recent work experience fits the descripion of a 60 point occupation (however it could be interpreted as partially a 50 point).

Does anybody know how DIAC deals with this situation? Would they request a further skills assessment for 60 point RWE or would they classify it as near as possible to a 50 point occupation?

Any help very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Whenever the recent or specific work experience is in a different occupation to the one assessed/nominated, It then becomes an Immigration decision on whether you possess the required skills of the claimed skilled experience and whether the duties are those of a skilled occupation on SOL.

This can be a problem where a Diploma is held and recognition is for a 40 point occupation and experience is claimed in a 50 points (degree) occupation.

With yours, assuming you are not working in a trade, you have a degree for the 50 point recognition and a degree is likely to be the skill level of the 60 point occupation - so maybe not such a problem.

I get the impression that your experience may be teaching and where experience is in an occupation that requires registration in Australia, and you get recognition and nominate a different occupation, Immigration can change your Nominated occupation to Teacher and refuse your application unless you get recognition as a teacher. This is usually done when you have only ever worked as a teacher so this may or may not be an additional problem for you.

You must have realised by this stage that your circumstances are not of the garden variety and maybe you should engage a competent migration agent
