5 year return visa

Default 5 year return visa

Hi all

what happens if you leave Aus - as a perm res - with a 5 yr return visa.. but are not able to return with the 5 years?

what is the re-application process like>??

I am having trouble finding the answer on line

Depends on individual circumstances whether or not an RRV will be issued.

I noticed you previously spent something like 10 years in Australia - any reason you didn't apply for citizenship?

If you do move over again on your current PR/RRV then you can take the year immediately prior to arrival as time towards citizenship, due to your valid visa - meaning if you don't leave Australia you could apply after 3 years living there.

There are some broad guidelines, about having "substantial ties" and the like. But you won't find a definitive answer because it is considered on a case by case basis. In my view, best thing to do is to avoid the situation altogether and ensure you do get back in time..
