457 - work & holiday - 175?
Hi,
I´m currently in Oz with 457 but my work finishes in the end of this year (visa expires 2012). I have applied for a 175 visa in July 2010 but according to immi it will take around 12 months to process it (mech engineer - cat 3). This could mean I have no visa starting from next January. Is it possible then to leave the country, apply for W&H visa, come to Oz and leave again when (hopefully) 175 will be issued.
Another option would be to find another sponsor and continue with 457 I guess, I wonder how easy that would be...?
Any thoughts?
I´m confused...

Yes if you qualify for a WHV and haven't had one before then that could be the ideal stop gap for you between visas. Just keep immi informed of your whereabouts so they can contact you before granting the 175. And you never know the 175 might in any case be processed before January if luck is on your side.

thanks for your quick responses
yeah, w&h seems like less stressful option, might even have a chance to explore Australia a bit.
WHV is a better option as you need not worry about finding a sponsar for 457 Visa

I´m not really interested in employer sponsored visas after my 457. I don´t like the fact that you are so connected to a certain company.
RSMS, I would need to commit working on a regional area I think...
I like the idea of 175 because it gives you freedom to live wherever and work to whoever you want to.
As I saw the other post regarding timelines today, I think I need to check SMP when they publish it.
