Default 2014 July changes to visa 489

hi all,

I applied for family sponsored visa 489 (Victoria) with 60 marks.
Still Skill Select indicates that it will nominate only 10 people after the recent change and points remained as 70.

I saw it in immi site they are going to allocate more than 60000 family sponsored visa for the period of 2014 - 2015.

What are the possibilities I have with 60 marks ?.

Last year they consider this mark as benchmark for family sponsored visa 489. Will they do it again ?

Thanks

Unless you are a partner, child or parent I'd say you have buckleys!

If you have 60 points you could be invited to apply for a visa, but with limited places those with the highest points will be invited first so your chances are low. The 10 places are for family sponsored I think - state sponsored are invite separately. In the invitation round of 9th June, the cut off was 65 points lodged August 2013 - it seems there may be quite a few people in front of you. Is there any way you can get more points, or state sponsorship?

Thanks for your reply. At the same time Im working for IELTS each 7 mark. Then it would be possible to score another 10 points.

How likely they will invite me with 60 points ? I meant that during last yeat cut off mark set as 60 for longer period. (2013 Augest - Octomber)

Thanks

The cut off mark is still 60 I think - but the likelihood of getting an invite has been reduced because of the reduced number of invites - and anyone lodging an EOI with more points will be considered ahead of you, as will anyone with the same points who lodged ahead of you.

If you cannot get state sponsorship, then you need to look at how you can get more points.
