Default 1st of July. Surely not?

i can't believe that on the 1st of july, next friday, i am going to come down to the laptop, log in to expats, as i have done every morning for the past 23 years, and see thread after thread of 'got it'. surely they are not going to suddenly issue all our visas on one day simply because they've had to wait til then? it would be nice, of course, but dimia just don't work like that do they. what happened on the 1st july last year?

so here i am, beginning to believe, like many others, that there is something to this 1/7 malarky yet unable to believe that salvation will come on that day. there will be another 6 weeks of dribbles of visas that have been waiting for 1/7 before catch up is complete. won't there?

tell me i'm wrong. there's been no mention of a visa having been granted on here for about 4 years. i've been sitting here, glued to the little white light at the end of the tunnel for ever. my finger nails are 6" long and i can sit on my hair.

IELTS is the English test I think you have to take if you're not a native speaker.

IELTS = International English Language Testing System

Pre-grant = pre-visa grant, sorry I got it wrong

Hi ahoy,

I dont know what will happen comes 1st July, just praying for the best..

I believe the situation last yr at this time was different as there could still be visas at the end of the financial yr. This time around, the speedy post 1st july 2004 system has been granting visas like a fire hose, esp in the months of july-dec 2004.

So, I guess it's a logical deduction that the entire allocated number of visas has been snapped up before the financial yr ends..

i guess so. which makes it all the more annoying. just have to be patient, which is easier some days than others! we've just exchanged and i want to book the dogs and furniture. have already booked the flights but they are adjustable. want to be there for my sister's wedding at the end of july. my teeth are very gritted. not in the same way as the road when the council think it might be icey. more in a kind of face aching way.

good luck to you. less than two weeks til july.

I'm trying to work out if you're saying that you've booked the flights, sold the house, but haven't actually been granted your visas yet!

I remember not so long ago people waiting 20+ months for their skilled visas to be granted when the skilled migration caseload moved to Adelaide ... stay calm (easy for me to say, I know) and all should be well ...

Best regards.

Blimey, I wish I was that brave! We're resigned to autumn in the UK before we can get out there, when we hoping to go in September. We could just about make it still if we heard in the next week, but after that, there's not time.

we've paid the bond and the co confirmed receipt of all the centrelink stuff on 25/5. on 6/6 co replied to my enquiry with 'you will be contacted in 2 - 3 weeks'. that phrase is embedded in my mind. i have repeated it to everyone who asks how its going so many times! so the three weeks is up on monday. to be honest i'm losing hope of being contacted before july, having read all the posts about that magical date and with there not having been a single 'got it' for a couple of weeks now. if we 'get it' in the first week of july, there is still time to make the flights and not have to cancel the dogs and furniture. like i said, life on the edge. i am a bit reckless generally.

Suachris is on a distinguished road
Talking Re: 1st of July. Surely not?

I am glad to see that it is not only us that have to convince other people as well as ourselves that the final result must be just around the corner. People are starting to laugh and avoid us, they probably think that we made it all up, we never applied and we are living in a dream world. Not being able to make a decision seems to be prevalent though. I applied for a job in Feb, of course thinking that the visa grant is just around the corner, and although I am on the short list, they still have not made an offer to anybody, four months later!

You have to wonder what dimia have been up to since they have reached the quota. I am hoping that they have been putting our 'Yes' letters into envelopes and waiting for July first to post them! I am forever the optomist!
