Default 189 visa granted but wife now pregnant

Hi,

Got a very specific issue.

My wife and I were granted a 189 visa in mid July. Hurrah!

We found out 2 weeks ago she's pregnant. Hurrah! But she is main applicant on visa (she's a nurse), I am the second applicant.

She is due in March 2014. The plan is for her to validate her visa in December 2013, then fly back to NZ to have the baby (as she has her family there).

I plan to fly to Oz in Jan 2014 and validate my visa.

Our questions are:

a) should we tell our CO about her pregnancy post visa grant?
b) will it continue to be valid if she is not working? Of course, I will be working under the visa as the second applicant?
c) if she validates her visa, then has the baby in NZ, what do we have to do to get the child onto the visa (post validation)?

Appreciate any comments. It seems from previous visa threads that this is an unusual set of circumstances.

Regards,

Happy husband/expectant father.

No happens a lot. Validate the visa. Then If baby is born in Australia it gets citizenship. If born outside you will need to apply for a child visa. Can't be added to your visa after grant.
Your wife does not have to work as a condition of this visa.

Congratulations!

For your case in granting VISA, how long did it take after your lodgement of VISA? Probably I will have same circumstances...

However long there visa took, it will not be relevant to your application. If your wife is pregnant, and you currently have a visa application being processed, it may be worth mentioning it to your CO.

Please don't bump old threads, especially those which are of no relevance to your own case.
