Hello All

i am happy to announce that i have been granted 176 family sponsored visa today. i am really thankful to this forum and all its members where i got so much of useful information which actually helped me to apply withough an agent.

here is my timeline:
17 Oct 09: 176 (family sponsored) Application Lodged Online
12 Nov 09: PCC and medicals requested
19 Nov 09: Health requirements finalised.
15 Dec 09: Visa Granted

Congratulations. I am just starting the process of applying for the 176 state sponsored visa. Did you have to provide a letter that you had researched the area you are living in? Also proof of any lump sum you would be bringing to the country? Any advice would be gratefully appreciatetd.

Are ur skills on CSL/ Modl list or it is just on SOL list?
Even i have applied under sublass176 (family sponsored) in May 2008. My skills are neither on CSL nor on MODL list. So i was just wondering whether i also fall under same category as urs.

Hi guys

Just a question on the 176 State sponsored visa. Am I correct in saying the job search is up to the applicant, the state will not be obliged to give you a job, and force you to work anywhere in the state. Do I still have to do a job search myself?

Yes you are right about that. You only have to commit to living there for 2 years, however, if you want to leave all you have to do is send them an email to ask! Well thats what Iv found out on BE but personally I think, If you research right then you should not have to leave. I think a lot of people were doing this pre 8th Feb but are only cheating the system based on what I read and the responses I and others sent to them. Any wonder DIAC have changed things eh? However, post 8th Feb a lot of people have no choice as DIAC have now revoked the MODL.
