176 SS then Visa?

First Post - Hi, new to all this and can't find the answer I am looking for. My plan is to apply for state sponsorship(176), if/when I receive a state sponsorship do I then have to apply for the visa or is the state sponsorship the actual visa I am after? If not, can the 2 be done at the same time (i.e. application for state sponsorship and application for PR visa??). I am currently waiting for my skills assessment OK from TRA. Any help is great help.:fingerscrossed:
