Default 176 Sponsored Visa

Hi, I was in the process of getting my visa ready for a 176 Skilled Sponsored visa - I have family sponsoring me in sydney. However my profession (Office Manager) is now not on the new SOL list but is on the schedule 4 SOL list. I have been receiving contridicting advice from migration agents here some saying i can use this list and apply and others saying i can't. Can anybody help?

Thanks, Marie

Hi Marie, welcome to BE.

The answer is straightforward, if your occupation is on Schedule 3 you can apply for either a 175 or a 176 with your family sponsorship.

If your occupation is not on Schedule 3 but only on Schedule 4 then you cannot apply for a 175 or a 176 with family sponsorship.

If your occupation is on Schedule 4, it means that you can only apply for a state sponsored visa. It doesn't mean that all states are sponsoring all occupations on this schedule though, you would have to visit the website of each of the states that you would like to live in and see if your occupation is on their list.

Sorry if that is not the answer you were after. It doesn't mean that it is impossible for you to get a visa, but being on schedule 4 does make things harder.
