Hi everyone,
Just got my IELTS results and passed that so I can now finally fill in my 175 online with my extra points.![Thumbs Up](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
One thought which has crossed my mind and I've struggled a bit to try and find information on is : What are the timescales once you've been awarded your visa?
I think you have 3 months from when you get it awarded to get it stamped. After that, how long is it before you can apply for residency etc? Is there also any minimum periods which apply which may affect your visa?
The reason I'm asking is because I will going first (without family) and then returning within say 8 weeks to then fly over with the family. Sounds complicated but I need to do that for personal reasons.
Any help or advice would be really appreciated. The reason for not knowing as well is because this point seemed so far off when I first started on this trip.
thanks again everyone

Ok you're getting a little bit ahead of yourself if you haven't even lodged the application

Anyway on your visa grant letter you will be given a date to make first entry by, this is normally 12 months after your meds/ PCCs (whichever was the earlier) but can be less time if you have a medical condition or are from a high risk country.
The main applicant has to be the first to enter Oz and the others can all follow, on the same trip or later. Assuming you are the main applicant then family coming 8 weeks later is fine.
Don't know how long you have to get it stamped, we got ours done straight away.
